The AirSticks are a wireless gestural instrument used to reconnect movement and sound invented by drummer/electronic producer Alon Ilsar and computer programmer/composer Mark Havryliv.

The ingenious software development of Mark has enabled Alon to transform off-the-shelf gaming controllers into a unique musical instrument, performing with the instrument in scores of professional projects from Sydney to Berlin, London and New York over the last 6 years.

At this Meet the Maker session, the AirSticks team will interface the AirSticks with different synthesisers at MESS, utilising their custom hardware and software package.

You’re invited to watch demos, try out the AirSticks yourself and to ask any questions about the project. There will also be sets available to purchase.
