MESS is opening our doors for a free Studio Open Day! Come down and check out the MESS collection – one of the largest publicly accessible synth collections in the world – try your hand at using rare and iconic electronic instruments, ask questions, meet other sound enthusiasts, and fall in love with a Moog, Korg, Buchla or two!

This is a chance for everyone, from the synth-obsessed to the synth-curious, to visit our Studio. If you’re new to the world of electronic sound or not sure if synthesisers are your bag, this is your chance to try them out!

What is MESS?
Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio is a unique not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the creation of electronic sound and music. The MESS Studio is home to one of the largest and most historically significant collections of electronic instruments in the world – all available for public use! It is a place for people of all experience levels to engage with the history, technique and artistry of electronic sound and music creation through studio access, education programs, shows, community events and more!

Event info:
Entry is free and, depending on attendance, walk-throughs may have a time limit so we can welcome as many folks as possible. Families are welcome and children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Note: Our open days are a great opportunity for everyone to try lots of different instruments for a day. So everyone gets a turn exploring the collection, we won’t be facilitating any recordings during the open day.
