We’re gliding into the new year on the expansive wings of the Yamaha DX1

With only 140 produced, Yamaha’s DX1 is a bit of a holy grail. A precursor to the famous DX7, the DX1 is Yamaha’s biggest FM synth. Manufactured from 1983 -85, it defined the sound of the early 80s pop music, and can be heard on albums by New Order, Depeche Mode, Dire Straits, Michael Jackson, Pet Shop Boys, Kraftwerk and Toto, to name just a few.
