We’re gliding into the new year on the expansive wings of the Yamaha DX1¬†

With only 140 produced, Yamaha’s DX1 is a bit of a holy grail. A precursor to the famous DX7, the DX1 is Yamaha’s biggest FM synth. Manufactured from 1983 -85, it defined the sound of the early 80s pop music, and can be heard on¬†albums by New Order, Depeche Mode,¬†Dire Straits, Michael Jackson, Pet Shop Boys, Kraftwerk and Toto, to name just a few.
