Chiara is an acclaimed composer, producer, and sound artist based in Australia, originally from Torino, Italy. With a diverse career spanning film, TV, electronic music, and sound design, her work reflects a unique blend of classical training and cutting-edge electronic exploration.

Chiara’s music has resonated on a global scale, with her original score for Netflix’s Heartbreak High winning an International Emmy. She also composed the music for Panopticon, which premiered at the 58th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, and the feature film Inside, starring Guy Pearce and Cosmo Jarvis, which had its debut at the Melbourne International Film Festival. Other notable TV projects include Totally Completely Fine (STAN Original) and The Unusual Suspects (SBS). Her film credits also include Australia’s Open (MIFF/ABC), Long Story Short and the Palme D’Or-winning short All These Creatures (Cannes, 2018). In addition to her work in screen composition, Chiara has collaborated with renowned choreographers and visual artists. She has worked with contemporary dance companies like Chunky Move and Prue Lang, as well as visual artists such as Callum Morton and Kris Moyes, creating dynamic, multidisciplinary soundscapes.

Classically trained in piano, Chiara’s journey into electronic music began after relocating to Melbourne in 2004. Her early exposure to the local electronic music scene led her to develop a refined DJing style under the moniker Chiara Kickdrum, performing at renowned festivals including Pitch Music Festival, Meredith Music Festival, and Dark Mofo, as well as supporting acts like Kiasmos, Marcel Dettmann, and Nina Kraviz. Chiara’s expertise in sound design also extends to fashion, composing for designers Henne and Dion Lee.

Chiara’s work spans a wide range of disciplines, from scoring for screen to creating electronic music for live performance, soundscapes for immersive environments, and exploring the experimental use of field recordings. In 2020, she was honored with the APRA Mentorship for Women in Screen Composition, working closely with composer Bryony Marks.
