MESS Synth Cafe returns this November, exploring the Beat Machine.
Join us for an evening of hands-on experimentation with this purpose-built performance instrument that uses algorithmic processes to generate rhythmic patterns and modulate synthesis parameters in real time.
This session will be led by Tara Pattenden and Professor Andrew Brown, who will discuss their aims and approach to the development of the machine. Members will be asked to test the device and provide feedback.
Developed as part of the ARC research project ‘Cultivating Electronic Music Across Regional Australia’ at the Queensland College of Art and Queensland Conservatorium of Music, the Beat Machine represents exciting new thinking about accessible electronic music performance.
