Aardvarks IV

$99.00

1974-5 USA Controller, Synthesiser

This custom quasi random voltage generator was built as part of Warren Burts MA thesis titled Aardvarks IV: A Real Time Electronic Music Machine (1975). It uses shift register feedback circuits to create strings of control voltages and pulses. Anecdotally, Burt had wanted the circuits to behave in a manner even moreย unpredictable than the standard circuits so, apparently, he cracked each ceramic resistor with a tiny hammer so that each one had a quirk. Amazing. This is a custom machine generously donated by Burt so that his spirit of endless experiment and curiosity can inspire future generations.
