An immersive concert experience featuring electronic music from some of the country’s finest musical minds. Aarti Jadu, E Fishpool, Maria Moles, Polito and Rohan Ribiero take over the car-park underneath the old Richmond Power Station creating a whirling maelstrom of electronic, electroacoustic and instrumental combinations. These performers cut across genres taking the audience on an amazing sonic journey through time and space from the hardcore to the sublime. Don’t miss this extraordinary site specific concert.

Jadu composes cinematic, atmospheric pieces played live through electronic instrumentation, on occasion conducting ensembles. Pairing classical elements, currently referencing chamber music, vedic, baroque and various folk traditions, with synthesizers, sampling and pop autotune, the work is idiosyncratic and purely based on context and state of being.
Recently working with sound design and directing a number of music videos, Aarti is most concerned with the immersive experiences of sound and theatrics that create a journey within both for the creators and participants.
e fishpool is a Budawang artist based in Long Beach, Budawang Country. Their work maps processes of unlearning and (re)learning identity through sampling sound, dialect and field recordings.
Maria Moles is an Australian drummer, composer and producer based in Naarm/Melbourne. Her solo percussion performances draw on ideas from the Kulintang music of the Philippines and contemporary electronic production to weave hypnotic webs from layers of unmetered pulse that slowly undergo subtle textural transformations. In collaborative contexts ranging from free improvisation, jazz and contemporary composition to experimental pop, Maria contributes an acute sense of touch, placement and timbre, unashamed virtuosity and a powerful rhythmic drive.

Polito is a collaboration between musicians Robert Downie and Finnian Langham, and performers Arabella Frahn-Starkie and Hillary Goldsmith. Real-time modular synthesis and evolving beat foundations create a transfixing sonic journey, anchored to movement which constantly reacts and evolves through a continuous, symbiotic form. Moments of euphoria emerge out of and supersede the mundane; forms align, hyperextending into a blurry dissonance before snapping back into sublime harmony. By engaging with improvisational scores and responding to each other and their surroundings, Polito create hypnotic performances which are varied and unique each time.
R. Rebeiro is an experimental musician whose work explores the boundaries of percussion and the potential of music as language. Typified by its highly dynamic and powerfully cathartic expressions of sound, Rebeiro’s work is rooted in deep listening, both to instrument and space, and highly reminiscent of the solemnity and purification of historical ceremony and ritual. Instruments are used and misused amongst free improvisational and expanded percussion techniques, where silence is often at play with sound. Elements can appear familiar, but these are chameleonic – this is experimentation as a form of communication, with language as an unwieldy, frenetic energy. At its core, Rebeiro’s work forces confrontation with our primal cognitions, creating an ontological discussion towards how we can communicate, and understanding the spaces in which we do so. Whilst seemingly confronting and obtuse, this universal language of rhythm is persistently human, and is illuminated by Rebeiro’s deeply physical work.
