Known as the ‘German Linn Drum’ – the Bohm Digital Drums are sample based and were originally released as a DIY kit before being rebadged as a Hohner instrument. According to Amazon, the instrument was manufactured in West Germany by the Böhm organ company and was released near the end of 1983. The Digital Drums model was available as a standard model that could be purchased as a DIY self-assembly kit and as a fully manufactured unit from Böhm. Optional modifications were later made available for fitting into the chassis (8-Channel individual outputs and other options are mentioned in the publication).
As well as featuring 180 pre-programmed preset rhythms and 432 pre-programmed Inserts (a selection of Fills, Breaks and Solos), the Digital Drums also offered 36 user-programmable rhythms and 144 user-programmable Inserts. The Digital Drums has 44 onboard digitally stored (sampled) sounds offering 24 different instruments and 20 variations.
