First released 1973 Australia Synthesiser

What: A versatile pin patchable modular designed and sold as a DIY kit in Australia and the UK by ETI (Electronics International) magazine.
Who: There are some conflicting reports on who is responsible for the synthesizer designs. Trevor Marshall and Kim Ryrie (one of the designers of the Fairlight) are both said to be involved but neither references the involvement of the other.

Story: This instrument was designed in South Australia by Trevor Marshall ca. 1973 and released through Electronics Today International magazine as a DIY kit both in Australia and in the UK as the Maplin synthesizer. The patch pin interface had recently been popularized by the EMS company in London. This particular model was bought in kit form from Jaycar here in Australia and assembled by Ray Smith who generously donated it to the MESS collection.
