Released in 1988 the MPC 60 was a collaboration between Akai and the now legendary Roger Linn of :Linndrum’ fame. The MPC stands for Midi Production Centre. The MPC 60 redefined the sound of hip-hop and R&B. It’s gritty low-fi sampling quality is still revered and emulated in newer software platforms. The intuitive and musically playable work-flow make it one of the defining trendsetters of its time.
