Description
Following the concept of ‘a wall on your desktop’, the MS20 packs big synth circuitry into a limited space: two sets of 3 octave VCOs, VCF, VCA, and EG, as well as a patch panel and a module for external audio input and CV conversion. This powerful mono synth was in production until 1983 as part of Korg’s MS series of instruments. Its thick robust sound is raw and wonderfully distorted, due to its dual highpass and lowpass filters with ADSR – probably its most recognisable characteristic, producing rich resonance and strange bandpass sounds. Despite being one of the first affordable semi-modular synths, it did not catch on instantly but in the 90s had a resurgence with artists such as Air and Daft Punk
