Superscope C-202LP

$99.00

1979 Japan, USA Recording and playback devices

Released around 1979 this cassette recorder from Marantz was a top of the line consumer item. It is a two speed mono tape recorder which could record at half speed meaning you could fit 90 minutes of recording on a c-45 minute cassette tape! Machines like this were used often in the making and performance of experimental music in Melbourne / Naarm from the late 1970’s through to the mid 1980’s. A lot of cassette based experiments were conducted at the now legendary Clifton Hill Community Music Centre with Ernie Althoff, Ron Nagorka and Warren Burt the main protagonists.
