Mads Davey is a composer, instrumentalist and vocalist with a focus on analogue synthesis. Formally trained as a composer, Mads spent years honing her craft arranging for orchestras, string quartets and various other ensembles, before delving deep into the world of analogue synthesis.

In her work Mads explores a widened centre of pitch, harmony and dissonance. She is currently creating works pairing a 19th century pump organ with 20th century analogue synthesisers. Mads leads experimental electronic art-rock trio Warplane, who have an upcoming EP ‘Pocket’ due September 2022. The release heavily features the novachord from the MESS collection. As a keyboardist and backing vocalist Mads has toured and recorded extensively for various Australian artists. As a composer she has written for TV, film, theatre, dance,
installations and arts festival commissions.

Mads is one third of composer collective STATHIS//DAVEY//KIM, who create large scale site-specific installations. Projects to date include ‘Chairway to Heaven’ for Mona Foma 2021 and a collaboration with Robin Fox and Soma Lumia called ‘Hypnos Cave’, for Mona Foma 2020. STATHIS//DAVEY//KIM are 2022 creator’s fund recipients and are currently developing a new work for presentation in 2023.
